Interviewing with both mentors and faculty member was interesting process that I had throughout making my movie. Instead of focusing on various organization that are related with adoptee mentorship, I focused more on Korean Adoptee mentorship program at Emory, which is KAME. Interviewing with couple people gave catalyst to change my thoughts toward KAME. Firstly, I asked question to interviewees about KAME as community service. I wanted to know that this group is either community service group or something else than that. Interestingly, there were some people who said yes, but there were some people who said no. More significant aspects in this question is that all people’ answers have valid points, and I learned from those points that interviewees mentioned. It can be community service because we “contribute” to Emory community, but sometimes it cannot be community service because we do not “help” adoptees but “share” our knowledge and information with them.
Also, I was grateful to know that all of interviewees are passionate about KAME. All of people throughout were vigorous to talk in their interviews, and I saw their ardor in the interview. Also as a member in KAME, I was so happy that all of people love KAME, and they think times in KAME are the happiest times in their life, which I also thought in same way as well.
I observed and learned crucial elements from interviewees throughout interviewing process, and I think my video is on right track of showing what is KAME and how KAME works in not only for adoptees but also for Emory community.
