I originally mapped out about the topic of music and music video’s effect to gender, media, and race. And I finally decided to pursue this topic for my hyper essay as well. I thought that music (especially lyrics in the music) and music videos are great components that I can talk with all of these main topics in the class.
Various types of musics, in these days, I thought, can be offensive in terms of gender and can be offensive for general. This is the reason why I was somewhat concerned about the relationship between gender and music in general.
Also, I was concerned about the relationship between genres of songs and gender. I cannot understand why mostly all of rap songs are song by men, and the majority of country musics are song by women. I really want to talk about the exceptions for this topic such as Nicki Minaj or Stevie Wonder as well.
Lastly, I want to figure out how one banal song can affect people’ behavior and thoughts through media. For example, Gangnam Style totally changed the reputation of Korea and Korean people through Youtube and many Facebook videos. It will be the great opportunity to figure out how "one video in social networaffects whole society
I will talk about..
-The changes throughout the years in music history
-Why there is “actually” none of female rappers?
-Rappers have to be black? - The prejudice toward the relationship between race and rap
-The effect of one song in people’ thinking
-How song & dance changes the trend of clothes?
-Lyrics can be offensive: Assault to Women
-Difference of songs among the nations - It is not the problem of race but it is the “concern” of culture
-Reputation of element by song - The power of one song in social networking websites
-Music as unification of all people regardless of anything
